Reading Reflection - 13A

You read about an Entrepreneur...

1)

• What surprised you the most?

        The fact that Steve Jobbs at one point had an addiction to LSD. And how this was the driving factor for a lot of his creativity when coming up with ideas for computers. He states that this experience opened up his mind to what life was really made of. It was surprising that a small tab of acid inspired a man to change technology forever. 

• What about the entrepreneur did you most admire?

      His pure drive and hunger to create his vision and be successful. Time after time the opportunity to either sell out or give up presented itself, but he choose to be resilient and stick out what he believed. That is something most people cannot do. 

• What about the entrepreneur did you least admire?

His Overall attitude towards his subordinates and pears. He was condescending and belittling to anyone who disagreed with his vision. Which in return, caused many people to dislike his presents. 

• Did the entrepreneur encounter adversity and failure? If so, what did they do about it?

     Yes, later on in Jobbs career, due to the poor treatment towards his coworkers and radical thinking, he was voted off the bored of directors and fired from his own company. This was the lowest and darkest point of his career. But even being at the bottom, the hunger for success still drove him to drift off and start another computer company before being hired back to Apple as the CEO. 

2) What competencies did you notice that the entrepreneur exhibited?

     Resilience, drive, courage, confidence, intellect, and ambition. All these things with the combination of creativity and accepting nothing less than perfection. Which is what has made Apple the company it is today. 

3) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.

   

   When he was transitioning from exiting college to when he began his position at the video gaming company at Atari. The details of this occurring were minuscule in the book and didn't provide much detail to why he made this decision. 

4) If you were able to ask two questions to the entrepreneur, what would you ask? Why?

       

    1. "What was your incentive to start your own computer company and to be successful? Was it money? Power? Impact on the world?"

       

     2." Where do you see Apple in 10 years from now? How will the company holds its competitive advantage in the market. "

           I would ask these questions for the reason that it gives me insight not only to what keeps him getting out of bed each morning, but also what strategic plans the company has for the future. 

  

5) For fun: what do you think the entrepreneur's opinion was of hard work? Do you share that opinion?

 

       I think his definition of hard work would be sacrificing anything and everything that either hinders you from the ending goal. Which would be success and changing the world.
